Drawing and Painting

Fine Art Diploma

Drawing and Painting

This course leads to an IDI Award. It is designed for those who would like to extend their skills and creativity in the use of drawing and paint based media. The course is made up of practical projects and activities. These involve students in the use of a wide variety of media and materials, both conventional and unconventional, in the exploration of creative ideas, and the development of a personal visual language.

This course is intended to develop more advanced drawing and painting skills, and to allow students the opportunity to explore elements such as line, tone, colour, perspective and composition in depth. This course also examines the language of drawing and painting in a variety of contexts, both as an exploratory tool, and as a means of creating finished works of art. Students will work from a wide range of primary and secondary sources, and will learn how to use drawing and painting as the basis for personal creative interpretation.

This course will also be of interest to students who are looking to improve their skills before embarking on a fine art diploma such as a sculpture diploma or drawing and painting diploma or a sculpture foundation course.
