Is the Interactive Design Institute a recognised UK institution? Yes. The Interactive Design Institute (IDI) is accredited by the City & Guilds of London Institute, ABC Awards, and the Scottish Qualifications Authority, three of the most respected awarding bodies in the UK. What courses does IDI offer? IDI offers Degree level qualifications from the University of Hertfordshire, one of the UK’s leading modern universities. IDI also offers the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design - the standard entry qualification for degree level courses in art and design throughout the UK. IDI is the only organisation in the UK approved to offer the Foundation Diploma online. Do IDI students get the same qualification as students who study attend a university or college? Yes. The qualifications awarded are exactly the same as those awarded to students attending college or university. What are the entry requirements? IDI’s entry requirements are the same as in most colleges and universities. However, IDI does not set a limit on places and therefore does not choose applicants on the basis of grades alone. In addition, IDI can in some instances offer places to applicants whose studies may have been affected by illness or other personal circumstances and who may not have achieved the necessary grades. How does it work? Students log in to a secure personal online studio, where they can access learning materials, upload and store images of their work, and communicate with their tutor and fellow students online. All communication takes place within a secure environment which is monitored by IDI staff. Students can also communicate with their tutor on a confidential, one-to-one basis. Students complete practical activities, and upload digital images of their work to their online studio. All IDI course are designed for study in a home environment. They receive regular feedback and advice, and can communicate with their tutors and fellow students whenever they want. They work at times which suit them, and can study on a full or part time basis. They are able to work flexibly, and can combine online study with other study or work commitments. What do the course fees cover? The course fees cover access to all learning materials and tuition, as well as all registration and examination fees. There are no hidden fees. What level of tuition and support do students receive? Students have access to one-to-one tuition through a private online message board. They can communicate with their tutors at any time, and as often as they like. Students receive comprehensive guidance and support throughout their studies. What equipment is needed to study with the Interactive Design Institute? Students need access to a PC or Mac and to the internet. They will also need access to a digital camera to photograph their work. For some courses, they may need to have access to specialist software, such as Adobe Photoshop. IDI students receive discounts on all Adobe products. What materials do students need? Students need basic art and design materials, such as pencils, pens, paper and paints. For some courses they may need other equipment such as a drawing board. All our courses are designed for home study, so we try to keep these requirements to a minimum. Who tutors the courses? IDI tutors are highly qualified specialists; all with experience of teaching UK higher qualifications. IDI requires tutors to have the same level of qualifications and experience as do all colleges and universities throughout the UK. How often can students communicate with their tutor? As often as they want. You will have access to a private online message board to communicate with their tutor whenever they want to. Can I get advice about study options for my daughter / son?
