This Creative Sketchbooks course leads to a City & Guilds Level 2 Award.

The course is designed to help you to develop your creative sketchbook ideas and build your personal creativity through the exploration of a wide range of media and materials.

The course culminates in the design and production of two personalised sketchbooks.

Through a series of practical activities, you will learn how to work with:

  • line
  • tone
  • colour
  • texture and pattern

You'll also learn to manipulate a variety of mark making media, papers, inks, paints and dyes using both conventional and unconventional approaches.

You'll have one-to-one support and feedback from a qualified tutor throughout your studies.

The Creative Sketchbooks course allows you to explore the formal elements of visual art and to develop their own personal creativity; at the same time gaining skills in a wide range of drawing and mixed media techniques.

You are also shown how to identify and work with chosen themes, gather source material and develop creative visual ideas.

The course culminates in the production of two finished pieces; a sketchbook which is creatively modified and adapted, and a constructed presentation book. Both pieces allow the you the opportunity to produce a finished work which is at once unique, creative and imaginative.

No formal entry requirements, although some previous experience in Art and Design is desirable.

Course fee: £600

Payment options:A single payment of £600, four equal instalments of £152

Please note: If paying by instalment, the first instalment will be paid at the time of application, with subsequent instalments being due at monthly intervals thereafter.

Course Duration

The City & Guilds Level 2 Award is 24 weeks in duration.

It requires around 120hrs of study input in total, which equates to around 5hrs of study per week.
