During the economic recession we should all support The Design Council in their ongoing efforts to collaborate with the UK government in developing design based solutions to the business downturn.

While we all acknowledge that the effects of the recession are severe, we must also recognise the role that design can play in enabling innovation in business by managing new ideas to create new products and new services.

Typically, the spending cuts which will inevitably result from the recession will hit the public sector hardest. Consequently, new, more cost effective methods of delivering training programmes are to be explored, including the introduction of online courses.
