IDI welcome their first 'Tesco' recruit
- 30 July 2010
Based in Wales, Rhian Caldwaladr has become the first student to benefit from the Interactive Design Institutes association with Tesco. Rhian has been a Tesco shopper for a number of years and saw the opportunity to use her Tesco Reward Card Tokens as part payment for one of our courses:
“I have been using Tesco
Clubcard Vouchers for years and find it a good way of saving up for treats”.
Rhian graduated in Drama in 1983 and although she worked as an actress for over 20 years, maintained her love of drawing and painting by attending a few community art classes. However, when she saw the interesting work her daughter was doing for her Art A level, Rhian decided she would like to have a go and has just completed her first year Art and Design A level as a student at her local further education college.
But Rhian has discovered that as part of her A level course, she needs to produce sketchbooks of a high quality. She admits to being disappointed with the quality of the sketchbook work she created last year. For some time she has felt she needs help to create effective and interesting sketch books and began to looks for a sketchbooks course that suits her requirements.
As the busy mother of four children, Rhian is employed as a drama tutor and arts project co-ordinator and also work as a digital story facilitator, actor and writer. For Rhian, flexibility is crucial when choosing a course of study.
Rhian told IDI that:
“Studying on line in my own time is the only way I could fit this course around my work and family commitments”.
Fortunately Rhian found the course she was looking for on the Tesco Club Card Website; “Introduction to Creative Sketchbooks”, delivered entirely online by the Interactive Design Institute and accredited by the City and Guilds of London Institute.
Rhian starts her course with us on September 20th. However, she has ambitions to develop her skills further in the future;
“I would love to do an art foundation course once my children have finished their degrees!”
We wish Rhian well with her studies and look forward to seeing her progress in future.
