October's newsletter highlights IDI’s Employers Discount Scheme and how Alan Tinsley, one of our Level 3 Foundation Diploma students has recently benefited from the scheme.

Alan Tinsley Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design

Alan Tinsley is 36 years old and lives in the South of Wales with his partner and young daughter. He is currently the MIS and Finance Officer for a Further Education College.

Alan has always had an interest in drawing but didn’t pursue this at school. Instead, he followed a more technical route, going on to complete a BSC in Computer Science. He has maintained his interest in art and design by attending evening classes in painting and life drawing.

Alan was accepted on to a Foundation Diploma course at a local college but due to a change in circumstances found that full time education was not an option for him at that time.

Alan's employer has been very supportive of his aspirations and offered to fund training if he was able to find a suitable course. Alan discovered that IDI offered the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design programme online. He decided that this course and method of studying would suit his needs. Alan also found that IDI offered an Employers Discount Scheme which his employers were happy to contribute towards.

Alan's aspiration is to change career. He feels that the Foundation Diploma is the ideal course for him as it provides in depth training in the traditional aspects of art and design. Alan will then develop these skills and go on to specialise in Computer Generated Imagery, an area which is of particular interest to him.

The IDI Employers Discount Scheme offers generous discounts to employers willing to contribute to their employees’ course fees. If you are combining your studies with full or part time employment, you should be eligible for support from the Scheme. The Scheme also applies to those who are self employed or sole traders.
