New Students for 2009

We are delighted to welcome students starting courses in this academic session. We have new students from throughout the UK as well as from countries further afield, including Sweden, Hungary and Bahrain. We also look forward to welcoming students this session from Indonesia, Dubai and Iran.

As ever, our students come from many different backgrounds, and we will be including profiles of them in the 'our students' section of the website throughout the year. To begin with, we are profiling Jennfier Ratcliff, who begins her Graphic Design course this session.

Jennifer Ratcliff BA Graphic Design

Jennifer left college after taking A levels with the intention of going to university after taking a year out. She then got a job as a trainee designer for a local magazine and decided not to go to university. She now works as a designer for a national magazine. Jennifer wanted to get a design degree and had been looking for a distance learning course for some time before discovering the Interactive Design Institute. Jennifer is one of an increasing number of IDI students who are combining their studies with full or part time employment. She says:

“I want a degree for two reasons. Firstly, I work in quite a niche area and would like to experience other areas of design. Secondly, many employers won’t consider candidates without a degree so I’m hoping this course will open opportunities in the future. I did find some other distance learning graphic design degree courses, but this was the only one that was from a UK university. I work full time and need a course that can fit round that.”
