Dean Percival - Japan
BA Graphic Design
Dean Percival is living and working in Japan with his family. He is currently studying on level 6 of the BA Graphic Design Programme.
Dean originally studied Interior Design and went on to work for some high profile international brands such as ‘Gatecrasher’ and ‘NY Sushi’. This ignited his passion for graphic design. He then completed a Masters Certificate in Web Design which enabling him to undertake some part time freelance work. With his previous qualifications and professional experience, Dean was offered a place on the BA (Hons) Graphic Design, with direct entry at level 6.
“I was interested in completing my degree online as I live in Japan, and was looking for something that would challenge me and extend my skills. I had searched without success for a few years, before I found IDI. I enrolled on the BA Hons Graphic Design (Level 6) - I chose this as I always felt that this was my true passion, and should have pursued this at an earlier age! I currently live in Tokyo with my wife and young son, whilst continuing to work full time.
Studying online provides me with the flexibility of completing work in my own time and at hours that suit both me and my family. The entire process from enrolment to feedback from tutors and other students has been quick, easy, efficient and effective. Above all, even though we are thousands of miles apart, the service feels very personal. It would be my dream to eventually become a freelance graphic and web designer, working full time, after cutting my teeth with a design agency first. I find the course challenging and it demands the highest expectations of design, skill and critical thinking, which creates the perfect blend to prepare me for the future.”
