Students of The Interactive Design Institute are required to acknowledge the content of the following terms and conditions at application. This acknowledgment will be taken as evidence of acceptance. The Interactive Design Institute website and e-mail All parts of the website, both public and teaching areas, including course content, are the intellectual property of the Interactive Design Institute. No part of this website may be posted or in any way mirrored on the World Wide Web or any other part of the Internet without the prior written consent of the Interactive Design Institute. No attempt should be made to copy or distribute either images or other content in any way; other than by enrolled students, who may print single copies of course materials for their personal use only. The reproduction of images is not allowed without prior permission being granted by the Interactive Design Institute. All rights reserved. The Interactive Design Institute reserves the right to amend the content of the website on a regular basis in order to ensure that it is current and as relevant as possible. It is strongly recommended that students protect their own computer system with appropriate anti virus software. The Interactive Design Institute will take all appropriate precautions but cannot be held responsible for any virus transferred via email or otherwise. The Interactive Design Institute contains links to other websites. However, it does not accept any responsibility for the quality or accuracy of information contained on any of these websites. All email correspondence will be conducted in a polite and courteous manner. Course fees The Interactive Design Institute reserve the right to review their fees at any time, but students can be assured that the fee they are quoted on application will not change until they have completed the course. Course fees are quoted in £Sterling or Euros. Students should make their calculations based on the current exchange rate for their own currency. Payment Payment must be made in full before enrolment. For some courses, there may be an option to pay in instalments. The Interactive Design Institute will undertake to inform students when instalment payments are due. The Interactive Design Institute reserves the right to restrict access to course materials and tuition, and ultimately to cancel enrolment, in the event of failure by the student to make instalment payments by the due date. Requests to extend the period of payment, or to vary payment amounts will be considered on a case by case basis. However, students paying by instalment are liable for paying the balance of the course fee in full, irrespective of the progress of their studies. The Interactive Design Institute reserves the right to reclaim the balance on any course fees not paid by the agreed date. Where payment by instalment is not available as an option, the fee must be paid in full. The Interactive Design Institute will consider requests for more flexible arrangements, or for deferred payment, but reserves the right to decide on such requests on a case by case basis. Application and enrolment The Interactive Design Institute undertakes to provide applicants
with information about the general content of courses, the learning
hours involved, and recommendations regarding any previous experience
required. The Interactive Design Institute will enrol students upon receipt and clearance of the appropriate payment, and will issue a confirmation of their enrolled status. Once enrollment has been confirmed, a student account will be established, and learning materials assigned to that account. Students will be able to commence their programme of study at the beginning of the next semester (semester dates are published on the public website alongside course information). The Interactive Design Institute does not knowingly accept applications from those under 16 years of age. By accepting these terms and conditions, applicants undertake to declare that they are aged 16 years or over. Those under 16 years of age who wish to apply for a course are asked to refer the application through a parent or legal guardian, or to contact us for advice. The Interactive Design Institute offers purely distance learning courses which are not subject to the regulation requirement under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance Cap. 493 (the Ordinance) in Hong Kong. Refunds and Transfers The Interactive Design Institute will cancel enrolment, and give a full refund of any course fees paid, less a £20 administration charge, if a request is received within 14 days of enrolment being confirmed. Other than in exceptional circumstances, no refunds will be given after 14 days from confirmation of enrolment. The Interactive Design Institute will consider all requests for refunds received after 14 days on a case by case basis. Cooling off period: Please note you have a legal right to cancel your application within seven days of the enrolment being confirmed. You must inform us in writing* that you wish to cancel, and we will refund any fees paid as quickly as possible. *Confirmation can be by letter or e-mail The Interactive Design Institute will consider requests to transfer to another course provided such a request is received within 14 days from confirmation of enrolment. Students must pay any difference in fees between courses. The Interactive Design Institute will not consider subsequent requests from the same student, nor will they consider requests received after 14 days from confirmation of enrolment. Studying with the Interactive Design Institute Students can register with the Interactive Design Institute and apply for courses a course at any time. Students may need to adhere to specific “terms” or “semesters”. The Interactive Design Institute delivers tuition within a secure area of its website. Access can only be obtained with a unique password and log in. Password and log in details can only be obtained once a student is registered with the Interactive Design Institute. Access to the Teaching Area is not available until a student has been accepted onto a course and payment has been processed. The period of time for completion of any course will be made clear at enrollment. Students will continue to have access to course materials, tuition and guidance while they remain enrolled. All images submitted for tutor comment, assessment and portfolio submission will be catalogued and securely stored. The Interactive Design Institute may reproduce images of student's work on the website or in other promotional material. Students enrolling with the Interactive Design Institute must undertake to conduct all aspects of their studies in a polite and courteous manner, and likewise to accept the directed tuition of staff. Students must not submit material, images or written content which might reasonably be deemed to be impolite, offensive or abusive. The Interactive Design Institute reserves the right to cancel enrolment without refund of fees at any time in the event of failure to comply with this undertaking. Students enrolled with the Interactive Design Institute are issued with an internet log in and secure password in order to access the Learning Area. Students must not disclose this password to any third party. Equality of Opportunity The Interactive Design Institute seeks to ensure that all students are treated equally. No student will be receive less favourable treatment due to race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, responsibility for dependents or because of political or religious belief. Admissions The Interactive Design Institute welcomes applications from all social and ethnic backgrounds. It aims to provide the best possible advice to enable students to choose the most suitable course at the most appropriate level of study. Teaching and Learning The Interactive Design Institute is committed to supporting the individual, and to teaching and assessment strategies which reflect individual needs. It aims to provide courses at a range of levels, both certificated and non-certificated, and to offer appropriate advice and assistance on progression opportunities. General All of the information on the Interactive Design Institute website, and within course materials, is believed to be true and accurate and is given in good faith. The Interactive Design Institute cannot be held responsible for any injuries sustained or accidents which may occur to any individual during any of the suggested activities on the courses offered. It is the responsibility of students to ensure that any work or material submitted to the Interactive Design Institute does not infringe the copyright of any third persons, and in the event that it does, the student will indemnify the Interactive Design Institute with regard to any action against it. It is also the responsibility of students to ensure that any material or information submitted to the Interactive Design Institute is, to the best of their belief, true and accurate. Students are responsible for the security of passwords and log in details; the Interactive Design Institute cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage sustained as result of unauthorised access to secure content. The Interactive Design Institute cannot be held responsible for the content of any websites accessed through links from this website. Failure by the Interactive Design Institute to enforce a right does not result in a waiver of such a right. If any of these terms and conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable by any court having authority to determine such issues, the remaining terms of this agreement will not be affected. You may not assign or transfer your rights under this agreement Legal Jurisdiction and dispute resolution These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Scots law and the parties hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts. The Interactive Design Institute make no warranty or guarantee that the website or information available over it complies with laws other than Scots law.
